DEED OF GIFT

FOR THE

CRUISER NAVIGATION TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY

The purpose of this trophy is to recognize annually the Pacific Coast Championship of the winning Cruiser Navigation Association as well as the Team Championship of the winning two competing Skippers contesting as a team from that Association.

The trophy is a sterling silver Kirk Steiff Revere bowl mounted on a circular walnut base which is wrapped with a sterling silver band upon which the name of the winning Association and the winning team Skipper shall be engraved annually.  The trophy comes complete with its own traveling case secured by a combination lock whose key is 101.

The trophy shall be awarded to the winning Cruiser Navigation Association team at the trophy presentation following the Pacific Coast Yachting Association’s Annual Regatta subject to the following provisions:

1.  The Trustee of the trophy shall be the Pacific Coast Yachting Association.

2.  The Trophy shall stand for an Interregional Cruiser Navigation competition to be held annually as part of the Pacific Coast Yachting Association Championship Regatta.

3.  Any Cruiser Navigation Association in good standing with the Pacific Coast Yachting Association which has entered two competing contestants in the Cruiser Navigation Championship contest is eligible.

4.  The two competing contestants from each member Pacific Coast Yacht Association Cruiser Navigation Association shall be considered to be a team.

5.  The winning team will be determined by adding together the seconds of error for both contestants and then adding together the predicted running time for both contestants and then dividing the total seconds of error by the total running time to determine the team score for the two contestants from each member association.  The team with the lowest score and their Cruiser Navigation Association shall be the annual champions.

6.  Suitable keeper trophies shall be presented to the two winning Skippers comprising a team.  Joe Castagna shall supply and/or provide funding for two suitable keeper trophies annually.

7.  The Perpetual Trophy shall be displayed and kept at the Yacht Club of the winning team member with the lowest score for the first half of its term and the Yacht Club of the other winning team member for the remaining half of its term.  The trophy is to be returned or shipped in its accompanying case fully insured by the recipient in possession to the Pacific Coast Yachting Association Commodore two weeks prior to the following year’s PCYA Championship Regatta.

8.  The individual recipient and/or the Yacht Club displaying the trophy shall be responsible for providing insurance on the trophy.

9.  The trophy shall always be the property of the Pacific Coast Yachting Association and shall not become the property of any recipient nor any club or Association except that should the Pacific Coast Yachting Association cease to exist or to operate, any successor organization shall succeed to the trophy or if there be no such successor organization, then it shall go to the Cruiser Navigation Association which has won it the most times provided it shall be kept in use as an active annual trophy.

10.  This Deed of Gift may be amended at any time by the donor and the trustee.  Upon the death of the donor, the Deed of Gift may be amended by the Board of Directors of the trustee provided that such amendment shall be designed to carry out the intent of the donor.

11.  The Secretary of the Association will see that the Notice of the Event, together with a copy of this Deed of Gift, are mailed to each member Association and each Cruiser Navigation contestant at least 90 days prior to the Annual Regatta.
